3,500 won for one at a department store? The miracle of making 16 at home for the price of two (Giant Inari Sushi)
Weekend lunch, delivery ...

Have you ever opened a delivery app for lunch on the weekend, seen the 4,000 won delivery fee, and quietly closed it? Am I the only one? 😅

Prices are really scary these days. Giant fried tofu sushi costs 3,500 won each if you buy it out, but actually, if you make good use of the commercial kits sold at the supermarket, you can recreate that exact same taste—or even better, taste it at home.

Since just adding rice would be a bit boring, I’m going to show you how to make a fantastic meal by adding a "taste-guaranteed kick" that I discovered with my 20 years of cooking experience(?). Once you eat this, all thoughts of delivery food will disappear.

😋 Why is homemade food tastier?
1. The rich flavor of stir-fried beef elegantly masks the artificial sweetness characteristic of store-bought inari sushi.
2. You can add three times more toppings than what is sold in department stores, so the mouth-filling satisfaction is different.
3. The wasabi aroma hits you without giving you a chance to feel greasy—a stroke of genius! (A taste for adults)
There are many types of commercially available products, but I found that if you want to put plenty of toppings on, the large, square fried tofu pouches are the easiest to work with.
If you are curious about the product information I used, please refer to the link below. (It is cheaper than the supermarket and convenient because it arrives the very next day!)

Pulmuone's Big Square Inari Sushi is really packed with ingredients. It includes seasoned fried tofu, sushi sauce, stir-fried vegetables, crunchy pickled radish, and even wasabi sauce, so all you need to do is prepare the rice!

🥗 Ingredients Preparation (3-4 servings)
Essential ingredients
1 pack of Pulmuone Large Square Inari Sushi
(Includes seasoned fried tofu, sushi sauce, stir-fried vegetables, crunchy pickled radish, and wasabi sauce)
3 bowls of warm rice
200g beef for bulgogi
💕 If you have store-bought bulgogi marinade, you can use that. It's even more convenient!

👩🍳 How to make it taste like a department store
Step 1: Prepare fried tofu (1 minute)
Please squeeze the water out of the fried tofu just slightly.
✨ Here's the key point!
If you squeeze it too hard, it becomes dry.The secret is to squeeze out just enough moisture to leave some behind. That is exactly why department store inari sushi is so moist!
Step 2: Stir-fry Bulgogi (5 minutes) –

I used leftover bulgogi from the day before. Honestly, it's a hassle to marinate and stir-fry the meat from scratch, isn't it? Haha.
When you have leftover bulgogi
Please heat the pan over high heat.
Add the leftover bulgogi and stir-fry until crispy.
The key is to dry out the moisture to make it crispy!
When there is no bulgogi
Season the beef (1 tablespoon soy sauce, 0.5 tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon sesame oil) and marinate for 5 minutes.
Stir-fry over high heat until crispy
It's OK to use store-bought bulgogi marinade!
✔️ Pro Tip: The key is to stir-fry until the moisture is gone.
✔️ Heat control: Stir-fry over high heat to bring out the smoky flavor.
✔️ Time: About 5 minutes is just right.
If you use leftover side dishes like I do, it's more convenient and saves food waste—it's killing two birds with one stone!
Step 3: Mixing the rice

Put the warm rice, sushi sauce from the kit, flakes, and crunchy pickled radish into a large bowl, and add the freshly stir-fried bulgogi and mix.
💕 The secret to creating department store quality!
Please mix the wasabi sauce into the rice. (According to your preference)
Then, every time you eat it, a subtly spicy aroma spreads, making it feel completely luxurious.
You can save a little of the remaining wasabi sauce to use for dipping!
I've been doing this ever since I discovered this. It really makes a huge difference in the taste. 😊
Step 4: Filling the fried tofu pouches

Please put rice inside the square fried tofu pouches. It's really easy because the opening is wide!
How to make it feel like a department store?
Please fill the rice all the way to the top.
Please add a little more stir-fried meat on top.
Sprinkle black sesame seeds or chives for a total izakaya vibe!

🍱 Done!
and… I made this and ate it with my husband, and he saidHuh? Did you buy this outside? It was to the point where I was like, "Haha"

After trying it
It's packed with bulgogi, so the texture is absolutely great.
Thanks to the wasabi sauce, I don't get tired of it until the very end.
The crunchy texture of the pickled radish is the real highlight.
I usually get tired of regular inari sushi after a few pieces, but I just couldn't stop reaching for this one. It tastes exactly the same as the 3,500 won version. No, actually, it's even better!

🛒 If you want to save money, just prepare this!
Pulmuone large square fried tofu sushi
I saw this at the supermarket and picked it up right away; the kit contents were really substantial.
In particular, it includes wasabi sauce, so you don't need to buy it separately. With just this, you can make the same taste as the inari sushi found in department stores!
You can make about 16 with just one bag, so it's seriously the ultimate value for money. You can make 16 at home for the price of two at a department store!

💡 Great tip for eating it even more (clearing out the refrigerator)
Additional topping ideas
The secret to making it tastier than department stores! Try adding these.
✔️ Canned Tuna: It's a real delicacy if you add tuna mayo when you don't have meat.
✔️ Crab Sticks: If you like the texture of seafood, this is also a good choice.
✔️ Cheongyang Pepper: If you like spicy food, try chopping it up and adding it (It's amazing!)
✔️ Flying fish roe: If you have it, add a little on top for a department store premium version!
🛡️ 3 Secrets to Failure
I failed at first too, so I'm sharing this with you!
Check rice temperature: If it's too hot, the fried tofu will tear. Let it cool down a bit!
Adjust sauce amount: If there isn't enough rice, it will get soggy because of the sauce. Please make sure to use 3 bowls of rice.
Storage method: You must cover it with a lid after it has completely cooled down so it doesn't spoil.
💕 Lunchbox Tip: If you're taking this to work, put the wasabi sauce in a separate small container. That way, the rice won't get soggy.
