Making Spam Musubi, Square Gimbap, Hawaiian Musubi, Spam Dishes
Hey everyone, have you heard of Hawaiian Musubi? It is a dish that Japanese people living in Hawaii long ago ate with ham instead of fish...
My dear followers
Have you ever heard of Hawaiian Musubi?
Japanese people who lived in Hawaii long ago
It is said to be gimbap topped with ham instead of fish.
It is one of the popular sushi dishes in Hawaii.
Hawaiian musubi is ordinary round
Unlike gimbap, it is characterized by its square shape.
It's just rice with Spam on top and wrapped in seaweed.
What is the appeal of such Spam Musubi?

A slice of Spam with warm rice!
It reminds me of an advertisement slogan... haha
It was very popular when I first saw it
It felt like a rice burger.
Am I the only one who felt that way..? Hahaha
Actually, there are so many different Spam dishes.
It tastes good even just grilled, and
It tastes good whether you add it to fried rice or eat it as is.
Spam dishes are always guaranteed to be delicious, you know.
So, with just Spam and eggs that guarantee a great taste...
Deliciously tasty Hawaiian Spam Musubi!
I'll give it a try 🙂

[ingredient]
2 and a half sheets of seaweed for gimbap
8 eggs
2 cans of Spam
salt
sesame oil
Pickled radish (optional)
2 bowls of rice

First, please prepare 2-3 bowls of well-cooked rice.

Season the rice with salt and sesame oil.

Oops!
Don't forget to sprinkle some sesame salt on top!

Then, mix the rice well.

The charm of gimbap is the pickled radish!
I cut the pickled radish into small pieces separately.
I mixed it with rice.
If pickled radish is included, in the middle
It tastes even better because it's crunchy.
I added pickled radish because it's to my liking... haha

I didn't blanch the Spam separately because I'm going to grill it.
For those who want to remove some grease
Please blanch it briefly in boiling water.

I cut the spam lengthwise into four pieces.

If you slice it thinner, you get more, but
I found this thickness to be delicious.

Since Spam already has a lot of oil, I'll skip the cooking oil.
I grilled the Spam in a preheated pan right away.

Grill it well on both sides so it doesn't burn.

I'm going to make rolled omelets.
Please add 8 eggs.
(I added 2 later)
Fluffy rolled omelet in musubi
I'm going to add a lot, so there's quite a lot.

Sprinkle salt on the eggs.

Please mix well.

A cleaner cross-section can be achieved by removing a significant amount of the chalaza.
You can make rolled omelets.
Coat a square pan with cooking oil.

Please wipe the entire pan with a kitchen towel.
Oil is applied to all sides of the pan, allowing for more even cooking.

Please pour in the egg mixture.
First, I'm going to spread it out thinly.

When the egg covers the entire surface of the pan
Wait for it to cook slightly, then fold in the 1/3 part.

Push the egg back toward your body
Please pour the egg mixture into the remaining space.

If you repeat this about 4 times, you will want
A thick rolled omelet is served.
I wish the rolled omelet were thicker and fluffier.
Those of you doing this, please fold it 2-3 more times.

With a total of 8 eggs like this, 3
The rolled omelet came out.
If you want to make it the same size as Spam
Please reduce the amount of eggs!

First, I'll try making it using a square musubi mold.
After laying out the seaweed for gimbap and placing the musubi mold on top,
Spread the rice inside the mold and press it flat with a press.

If the rice is spread out flat

Place the rolled omelet on top

Please put spam on top.

After pressing flat with a presser

Spread rice on top again and press with a press
Please press it flat again.

If only all sides were flat like this
Please remove the side frame while pressing with a presser.

Then you can see a pretty cross-section like this.
The musubi is almost finished 🙂

Please cover all sides with seaweed.

Apply rice grains or water to the finishing point
If you stick it on, you can easily attach it.

Please press firmly with your hands to shape it well.

And just like that, the Spam Musubi is complete 🙂
It's all square... haha

If you make one more using the same method, two are ready in no time!

Spam musubi made with a square musubi mold
If you cut it into bite-sized pieces, it becomes square gimbap.
Hawaiian Musubi complete~ 🙂

Next is the spam bin
I'll show you how to make it.
First, cut a large piece of plastic wrap and spread it out completely inside the Spam can.
Please spread the rice evenly over it.

and Spam–> egg Upload them in order

Place the rice on top one more time and press it down flat.

Press the rice flat, pressing firmly!!
Please press to shape it.
And if you hold both ends of the wrap and lift it up
The musubi pops right out of the container.

After removing the plastic wrap, cut the seaweed into pieces about the thickness of two finger joints.
After cutting, wrap the center with seaweed.

It's easy to turn it into a Spam can, too.
Musubi complete!

It is more unique than regular gimbap and
Hawaiian Musubi that is easy to make
I bought a can of Spam on my way home from work.
Simply with today's recipe
Give it a try 🙂
See you again with even tastier recipes!
