hello everyone!
Today, during my trip to Nha Trang, Vietnam...
The amazing world of taste I experienced
Right on the 'Banh Mi sandwich'
I’d like to talk about that~~

I like foods with a strong spice smell
Especially cilantro or foods with unique aromas
Actually, it wasn't easy to enjoy.
Then, by chance, I found a banh mi seller on the street
I found a store
It turns out it's famous in Nha Trang
It was a great restaurant.

The moment I mustered the courage to take a bite of the cilantro-infused banbi,
Crispy baguette, tender meat, crunchy vegetables,
And… cilantro? Surprisingly, all these ingredients
It created a perfect harmony and captivated my taste buds.

Since that day, I set out every morning in search of banh mi.
By the end of the trip, even the scent of coriander
It was enough to make me miss it... haha
Even after returning to Korea, I kept thinking about that taste.
So I made a decision.
Let's make Banh Mi at home!
Now, here is my own banh mi recipe.
Let me introduce it to you!

First of all, the key to banh mi is the crispy baguette.
Baguettes that became established in Vietnam due to the influence of French colonial rule
This is said to be the beginning of anti-Americanism.
You can buy a freshly baked baguette from a neighborhood bakery,
You can order from Market Kurly like me... haha
If you bake it in the oven for about 5 minutes, it becomes even crispier.
You can enjoy delicious baguettes~~

Making a Banh Mi Sandwich
[ingredient]
3 baguettes
200g beef brisket
1/2 cucumber
A little bit of Cheongyang and red chili peppers
A handful of cilantro
[Filling]
1/2 carrot, 1/5 radish
Pickling liquid: 3 tablespoons vinegar, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 teaspoon salt
[Meat Seasoning]
1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce
3/4 tablespoon of fish sauce
1 tablespoon of My Normal (sugar)
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1/2 tablespoon minced garlic
A little pepper
[Special Sauce]
4 tablespoons of mayonnaise
2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce
1 tablespoon of My Normal
3/4 tablespoon fish sauce

Next up are the fillings~
Traditionally, pork patties
I add eggs, cucumbers, carrots, cilantro, etc.
I modified it slightly to suit my taste.
I used beef brisket.

First, cucumbers, Cheongyang peppers, cilantro, red peppers, etc.
Please prepare the ingredients.
Julienne the carrots and radishes and mix with vinegar, sugar, and salt
Marinate for at least one hour to prepare.
If you prepare it in advance, it has a crispier texture
You can taste it :)

Chadolbagi is 1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce
3/4 tablespoon fish sauce, 1 tablespoon My Normal (sugar),
1 tablespoon olive oil, 1/2 tablespoon minced garlic,
Add a little pepper Season.
In a preheated pan over high heat, the seasoned meat
Please stir-fry it quickly~
and
Finally, lightly grill it with a torch to add a smoky flavor.

The sauce is important too!
Mix mayonnaise and Sriracha sauce for a spicy
Make a creamy sauce.
This adds even more flavor to the banh mi.
Now, let's make a sandwich.
Cut the baguette in half and spread the special sauce on it.
Cucumber with grilled beef brisket, pre-made
After topping with pickled carrots and shredded radish, cilantro, and Cheongyang peppers,
Add the special sauce one more time
If you add a spicy flavor
Finished~!!!

If you take a bite of the finished banh mi
That day in Nha Trang keeps coming back to me :)
Crispy bread and savory meat full of smoky flavor,
A harmony of crunchy vegetables…
The scent of coriander is added to it.
The really appealing taste of the banh mi sandwich
You'll fall in love~~

Strangely enough, in the first pho I tried, it was like that
The cilantro had a distinct aroma, but when I ate the banh mi, I didn't even realize it was in it.
Thanks to that delicious experience, now even with pho...
I've become a cilantro enthusiast who puts cilantro in their food... haha

You should give it a try too!
Cilantro may be unfamiliar at first, but
If you increase it little by little, before you know it, you will become an expert enthusiast.
It probably is. Just like I was!

Finally, let me give you one tip.
The most important thing when making banh mi is fresh ingredients.
Freshly baked baguette, fresh vegetables, well-cooked meat…
All of these must come together to be truly authentic
You can taste the flavor of Banh Mi.

Now, in your kitchen
Experience the taste and aroma of Vietnam.
With just one bite of banh mi,
You won't need a separate trip to Vietnam.
Enjoy making and eating this!
